School canceled for week; Senior Breakfast now a Senior Family Dinner.
Hi guys,
School has just been canceled for the week. We're changing the senior breakfast to a senior family dinner (pizza will be the main course). It will take place at City Honors on Thursday, November 2, 2006 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
For those of you going on the Senior Trip - the payment due dates are still in effect. That means you need to have $300 in cash or a check made payable to Travelogs International as soon as school starts up again.
Please pass this information along to as many seniors as you know.
Thank you,
Mrs. Banas
P.S.: Feel free to leave comments on this blog if you have questions or concerns.

Musings and Internal Assessment Due Dates

I sit in my parents' home in East Aurora - a refugee of the freak October snowstorm. Our street still has no power. We spent Friday through Sunday nights at our friend's house on Cary St. - where we lived for ten years. Knowing that your parents are always there for you, and that you can wear out your welcome with a friend (especially with two stir-crazy little girls running around), we came out here today. I never thought I'd be moving back in with my parents at my age (lesson - have a good relationship with your parents cause you never know when you'll really need them).
Anyway, having lots of free time has enabled me to come up with due dates for the Historical Investigation. Here they are (and they are not negotiable):
Bibliography (minimum of three sources - only one internet source) and your Outline Plan of the Historical Investigation: November 22
Summary of the Evidence: December 15
Analysis: January 16
Evaluation of Sources: February 16
Conclusion: March 2
Final Draft - All parts put together in order (having fixed problems I previously pointed out): March 16
Final Copy - March 28
The Internal Assessments are mailed out to IB on or about April 1.
Hope you guys have been luckier than me and have had power. If you want to see some pictures of the damage, go to: http://web.mac.com/wbanas/iWeb/Site/Buffalo%20October%20Storm.html
Take care and see you when school is back in session.

Textbook Distribution
Students received two books today in class - "America: Pathways to the Present" (a blue book) and "The Earth and its Peoples" (a red and yellow book). Students were told to bring them home and keep them at home until the end of the year. They will not have to bring them back and forth to school as I have class set of both in my room.
